Apex AKA John Shmuph AKA Bedlam is the youngest member of the Asylum Seekas. He started writing rhymes as soon as he found hip hop, not to escape the ghetto, or shout to his dead homies, more to find an outlet for his boredom and since, has only got better.
Shmuph has been around on the Guernsey hip hop scene since he was 16, occasionally straying into Drum and Bass, Dubstep and anything heavy. He can flow slow or fast and mixes between intelligent content filled rhymes and raw lyric spitting. A fan of the battle scene, Shmuph took the crown at the Iceman Beats Battle Night contest in 2006, won the “Whackest Link” in Colchester in 2008 along with smashing several local battles along the way. Shmuph worked and performed in England with Joel B (IdleMinds Records) Tony Black (Road Sound RPM) and Me3 (Shadow Beat) before getting evicted and having to return to live with his mum in Guernsey, now thats gangsta. Innit.
An entertainer at heart, he is also known as an occasional DJ, but without a doubt, belongs behind the microphone – redefining dope & keeping hip hop alive, this man is destined for greatness.
